Meetings can be recorded. Recording is configured per preset in the console.

Enabling recording

Recording is controlled by the preset assigned to the meeting:
  • Open Presets for the video app.
  • Edit the preset used for the meeting.
  • Toggle Record on start to record automatically when the meeting begins.
Presets are the same mechanism that controls which controls the host and guest see, the branding, the wait-for-host rules, and the backgrounds list — so recording is wired into the same preset-per- audience pattern the rest of the product uses.

Manual start / stop during a meeting

When a host has the recording control enabled in their preset, they can start and stop the recording mid-meeting from the meeting toolbar. Participants see a recording indicator while it is active.

What is recorded

A recording captures the meeting as it is rendered: active speaker, grid, screenshare, and any participants currently in the room. The audio is captured from the mixed meeting stream. The recording layer exists — it is your responsibility to ensure participants are informed before a recording starts, where local law requires it. Practical patterns:
  • If you record by default (preset Record on start), include a note in your pre-call copy, the invitation WhatsApp, or the scheduling confirmation so the guest knows what to expect.
  • Where two-party consent is required (some US states, EU countries with stricter interpretations of GDPR), prompt the guest to acknowledge in the pre-join flow.
See Compliance & privacy for the platform’s stance on consent and data boundaries for Video.
